| MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHEDULED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION CARBONDALE COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 165, CARBONDALE, ILLINOIS HELD NOVEMBER 18, 2010 The regular scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of School District 165 was held in the Carbondale Community High School Cafeteria, 1301 East Walnut Street, Carbondale, Illinois, on Thursday, November 18, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. Upon roll call, the following members were present: Kathy Booziotis, Kenneth Hughes, Robert Brewer, William Sherwood, Mike Durr and Francis Tsung. The following member was absent: Linda Flowers Also present were: Steve Sabens, Crystal Swan-Gravatt, Steve Kosco, Virginia Appuhn, Stephen Murphy and CCHSEA Represented. President Brewer declared a quorum present and the regular scheduled meeting of November 18, 2010 was called to order. Minutes: The minutes of the regular meeting of October 21, 2010, were approved as distributed. Department Newsletter: The Board received the Career Education Department Newsletter for their review. Payment of Bills: Motion by Sherwood, seconded by Durr, to pay the remaining bills for the month of October, 2010; and, those available for payment for the month of November, 2010. Roll call: Booziotis, Brewer, Durr, Hughes, Sherwood and Tsung voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Rising Star Plan: Motion by Sherwood, seconded by Tsung, to approve the Rising Star Plan as presented. Roll call: Brewer, Durr, Hughes, Sherwood, Tsung and Booziotis voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Closing of School Offices During Christmas Break 2010: Motion by Booziotis, seconded by Sherwood, to approve the closure of all offices after Friday, December 17, 2010, with the exception of the Administrative Center which will remain open until 5:00 p.m., on Monday, December 20, 2010, and to re-open on Monday, January 3, 2011. Roll call: Durr, Hughes, Sherwood, Tsung, Booziotis and Brewer voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. 2010 Tax Levy: Motion by Hughes, seconded by Sherwood, to approve the Resolution regarding the estimated amounts necessary to be levied for the year 2010. Roll call: Hughes, Sherwood, Tsung, Booziotis, Brewer and Durr voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Updates/Revisions to District Board Policies: Motion by Durr, seconded by Sherwood, to approve the updates/revisions to Board Policies 2:20, 2:110, 4:50, 5:190, 5:290, 6:20, 7:20, 7:180, 7:190, 7:285 and 8:30 as presented. First reading of these policy updates/revisions occurred at the October 22, 2010 Board of Education meeting. Roll call: Sherwood, Tsung, Booziotis, Brewer, Durr and Hughes voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. The Board received updates/revisions to Board of Education Policies 2:220, 2:230, 2:260, 4:10, 4:170, 5:10, 5:30, 5:90, 5:120, 5:220, 5:260, 6:300, 6:320, 7:50 and 7:310 for first reading. Reschedule Board of Education Meeting: Motion by Durr, seconded by Hughes, to reschedule the April 21, 2011 Board of Education meeting to Thursday, April 28, 2011. Roll call: Tsung, Booziotis, Brewer, Durr, Hughes and Sherwood voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Resignation: Motion by Hughes, seconded by Booziotis, to accept the resignation of Lisa Bastien as the Secretary to the SSP Director effective November 29, 2010. Roll call: Booziotis, Brewer, Durr, Hughes, Sherwood and Tsung voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Employment: Motion by Sherwood, seconded by Tsung, to employ Kathryn Lambertus as the Secretary to the SSP Director effective December 1, 2010, at the rate of $9.87 per hour. Roll call: Brewer, Durr, Hughes, Sherwood, Tsung and Booziotis voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Approval of Volunteers: Motion by Sherwood, seconded by Durr, approve the following volunteers as presented: a. Parent Volunteer--Luisa Ballester-Concepcion: ELL (English Language Learner) b.
