| MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION CARBONDALE COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 165, CARBONDALE, ILLINOIS HELD FEBRUARY 19, 2015 The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District 165 was held in the Carbondale Community High School Cafeteria, 1301 East Walnut Street, Carbondale, Illinois, on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. An executive session preceded the meeting at 6:00 p.m. Upon roll call, the following members were present: Kathy Booziotis Vicky King Linda Flowers Mike Neill Joe Hudgins Brian Woodard The following member was absent: Francis Tsung Also present were: Stephen Murphy Daniel Booth Steve Kosco Connie Morgan President King declared a quorum present and the regular meeting of February 19, 2015, was called to order. Executive Session: Motion by Booziotis, seconded by Flowers, to go into executive session for the purpose of considering information regarding the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees; and, litigation. Roll call: Booziotis, Flowers, Hudgins, King, Neill and Woodard voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Member Answers Roll Call: Member Tsung answered roll call at 6:09 p.m. Executive Session Adjourns: The executive session adjourned at 7:33 p.m. Public Portion of the Meeting Convenes: The public portion of the meeting convened at 7:35 p.m. President King stated no action was taken while in executive session. Minutes: The minutes of the regular meeting of January 15, 2015, were approved as distributed. Approval of Executive Session Minutes: Motion by Neill, seconded by Booziotis, to approve the minutes of the executive session held on January 15, 2015. Fine Arts Department Presentation: CCHS Fine Arts Department Chair., Connie Morgan, did a presentation for the Board regarding the activities of the Fine Arts Department. Public Comments: There were no public comments. Payment of Bills: Motion by Flowers, seconded by Woodard, to pay the remaining bills for the month of January, 2015; and, those available for payment for the month of February, 2015. Roll call: Hudgins, King, Neill, Tsung, Woodard, Booziotis and Flowers voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Committee Reports: There were no committee reports. Permission to Bid Janitorial Services and Yearbook Photography Services: Motion by Hudgins, seconded by Tsung, to bid janitorial services and yearbook photography services as requested. Motion carried. 2014-15 Mid-Year Graduates: Motion by Booziotis, seconded by Neill, to approve the list of 2014-15 mid-year graduates as presented. District Policy Updates/Revisions: Motion by Neill, seconded by Tsung, to approve the updates/revisions to District Board of Education Policy 4:155 as presented. First reading for District Board of Education Policy 4:155 occurred at the January 15, 2015, Board of Education meeting. Vision 20/20 Resolution: Motion by Booziotis, seconded by Hudgins, to approve the Vision 20/20 Resolution as presented. SM vs. CCHSD 165 Settlement Agreement: Motion by Flowers, seconded by Neill, to approve the SM vs. CCHSD 165 Settlement Agreement as presented. April Board of Education Meeting Rescheduled: Motion by Neill, seconded by Booziotis, to reschedule the Thursday, April 16, 2015, regular Board of Education meeting to Thursday, April 30, 2015. Roll call: Hudgins, King, Neill, Tsung, Woodard, Booziotis and Flowers voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Resignation: Motion by Hudgins, seconded by Booziotis, to accept the resignation of Joyce Mayer, a part-time cook’s helper, effective January 23, 2015, as presented. Roll call: King, Neill, Tsung, Woodard, Booziotis, Flowers and Hudgins voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Employment of Athletic Director: Motion by Woodard, seconded by Booziotis, to employ Mark Albertini as the Athletic Director of Carbondale Community High School, a full-time 12-month administrative position, effective July 1, 2015. Mr. Albertini’s salary will be $80,000.00 for the 2015-16 school year. Roll call: Neill, Tsung, Woodard, Booziotis, Hudgins and King voted yes. Member Flowers voted no. Motion carried. Employment of Assistant Athletic Director: Motion by Hudgins, seconded by Woodard, to employ Marialice Jenkins as the Assistant Athletic Director of Carbondale Community High School, a full-time 12-month position, effective April 1, 2015. Ms. Jenkins’ salary will be $40,000.00 for the 2015-16 school year. Roll call: Tsung, Woodard, Booziotis, Flowers, King and Neill voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Cafeteria Personnel: Employment Transfer/Employment of Cook’s Helpers: Motion by Flowers, seconded by Hudgins, to approve the employment transfer of T’Neesha Cavins from her part-time cook’s helper position to the full-time cook position, at the rate of $12.96 per hour effective February 23, 2015, for the remainder of the 2014-15 school year; and, to employ the following part-time cook’s helpers for the remainder of the 2014-15 school year, at the rate of $9.07 per hour: a. Gregory Donahue retroactive to January 20, 2015. b. Stephanie Murray effective February 23, 2015. Roll call: Woodard, Booziotis, Flowers, Hudgins, King, Neill and Tsung voted yes. Nay, none. Chief School Business Official Transition: Motion by Neill, seconded by Hudgins, to employ Steve Kosco following his retirement to assist the new Chief School Business Official on an as needed basis, for a minimum of 120 hours, up to a maximum of 500 hours, at the rate of $53.00 per hour. March Board Meeting: The March Board of Education meeting will be Thursday, March 19, 2015. Spring Break: Spring Break will be March 9-13, 2015. 2014 IASB Constitution and Position Statement: The Board received the 2015 IASB Constitution and Position Statement for their review.
